The release of my Guide to Buying Banner Inventory

Recently I was flown out to Los Angeles by AKMG and was selected to give a presentation at Meetup202 LA. The topic I chose was how to get started with buying banner inventory on websites. If you read my recap you’ll know the story about how I was really nervous about it. Smaxor being present didn’t help my nerves because I knew if I had any slipups, he would know. But after it was all said and done, I handled it pretty well. A lot of people came up to me after wards and gave me great information and let me know they gained some good information, which is was my objective in the first place. So I considered it a success.

The purpose of this post is to let everybody know that my Guide to Buying Banner Inventory is now public information. There’s a link in the menubar above, so you might have seen it before. I just had it set to password protected to tease everybody for awhile. I had a number of people contact me on AIM asking for the password so they could check it out.

I did let a handful of people check out the guide in rough fashion so they could check it out and provide feedback. They pointed out a few things I’ve added to the guide, but for the most part it’s pretty much a direct copy of the presentation I made at Meetup202 LA. A few of the people that have already seen it have used the tips I’ve given away to get some campaigns up and running.

For what it’s worth, I consulted with a few affiliates who I trust to get their feedback on whether I should turn this into an eBook and make some money, because this guide definitely gives out some great information that you can use to fatten your bank account. However, I didn’t want to be labeled a guru or an eBook marketer so I decided to go the Nickycakes route and release it as a guide on my blog.

I’m sure there are some small parts I’ve missed, but I believe that I have covered pretty much what you need to know when it comes to buying banner inventory. If you guys see anything that I should change in the guide, just make a comment on those pages and I’ll add it if necessary.

Finally upgraded to a Dedicated Server!

After crashing my VPS from Liquid Web a few times where I sent 20,000+ clicks daily, I decided to finally bite the bullet and invest in a dedicated server. After talking to the Sales and Technical Support Team over at Liquid Web we decided it would be best to go with their Professional Series. The exact specs of my server are below. I don’t think it’s a bad deal for $299/month.

Processor: Dual Xeon E5504 Quad Core (Gainstown) (2.0GHz/core)
Memory: 2GB DDR RAM
Hd1: 250GB 7200RPM SATA / 8MB Cache
Hd2: 250GB 7200RPM SATA / 8MB Cache
OS: Linux – CentOS 5 (+64 Bit)
Bandwidth: 8000GB Monthly Transfer (4000 in + 4000 out)

The only thing that worries me is the 2 gigabytes of memory. If I ever have problems with this server I will definitely double that at the least.

I wonder how many clicks it will take to crash this server? Once I find out, I’ll let you all know!

Get a VPS or Dedicated Server from LiquidWeb

A few months ago I murdered my shared hosting on HostGator by sending 10,000+ clicks to my Prosper202 install. Crashed my hosting and I decided I needed to get with the program and at least get a VPS. I finally decided to get one from LiquidWeb.

I went with their cheapest VPS and so far have had days where I sent 15,000 – 20,000 clicks to my Prosper202 install and only once have I crashed it. I know, I know. I’ll be upgrading to a Dedicated Server shortly. I just wanted to let everybody know that since signing up for my first VPS I had many questions. I was even going to their 24/7 Heroic Support Live Chat so often I got to know a few of the tech support guys! I felt like a complete newb. But, like they say, they have Heroic Support! They were always more than willing to help me with any questions I had and explained everything I had questions about.

I cannot say enough about these guys. If you ever need a VPS or Dedicated Server, look no further than LiquidWeb!

Need Shared Hosting? Choose HostGator!

Are you a noobie to affiliate marketing and need someone to host your first few websites? I suggest looking no further than HostGator. They have support available around the clock and have always helped me out when I needed them too. Plus, they’re CHEAP! I suggest starting out with the Baby plan. It’s only $7.95/month and you have unlimited domains, disk space and bandwidth. And you get a shared SSL to boot!

Maybe you just have a few sites you need hosted on a different IP and different nameserver. If this is the case, I still suggest you go with HostGator, but I would recommend choosing their Business plan as it comes with unlimited domains, disk space and bandwidth. Also included are a Dedicated SSL and IP. What more could you want for $12.95/month?
