Were your Facebook Ads disapproved yet again?

Here’s a Christas present for the noobs.

Are you getting tired of submitting ads over and over again hoping Facebook finally approves them this time around? If so, read on.

You must ask yourself, do my ads meet all of Facebook’s Advertising Guidelines? If they meet all the criteria and they get disapproved simply email affiliates@facebook.com an email asking why. I’ve included a sample email below.

Why were the ads in CampaignName disapproved? I believe they meet all your advertising guidelines. And if they don’t, please let me know what I need to change to get them approved. Thanks!

You’ll be amazed at how often they will reply to you and say they were mistakenly disapproved, they were re-reviewed and approved. Or if they believe they don’t meet the advertising guidelines they usually will tell you specifically why they were disapproved and what you can do to get them approved next time they’re submitted.

Go ahead and try it!

I’ve tried this – they are good with communication. I actually emailed them today regarding a retroactive disapproval, I’ll keep you updated on how they respond.

My ad has been disapproved and then approved now for the third time. I find this to be extremely frustrating. It’s obvious that their process is not very thorough. My site allows users to post the cruise ship, destination and departure date of a cruise they are going on and then connects them with others who will be on that ship. Facebook keeps telling me this site is a dating site which is absolutely ridiculous. After they review the site, they apologize and reactivate it. 3 days later is once again gets disapproved for the same reason. Somebody needs to take a little more time in the review process.

I’m just starting with FB and have no doubt i’ll be using this advice :)

I have one dating site that was using facebook ads for a year with good success. The problem started when I added the second dating site. Both are not nothing more that dating with no adult content.

With the second site I would create one ad and when it was approved I would create the exact same add again and only change the country I was targeting and one word like Bolivia v/s Panama. I would get a string of disapprovals and then a string of approvals and there was no sense to it.

Well, I finally challenged them and questioned their inconsistent process and “Molly” took exception to my questioning even though it was polite in nature.

So to punish me I received this email.

Hi Steve,

The content advertised by this ad is prohibited. We reserve the right to determine what advertising we accept, and we may choose to not accept ads containing or relating to certain products or services. We do not allow ads for dating sites with a sexual emphasis. We will not allow the creation of any further Facebook Ads for this type of site. We appreciate your cooperation with this policy.

Thanks for your understanding,

Molly

So what she did was terminate all my ads on the second site http://www.date4u2.com that were running AND terminated the ad from my first site that had been running for 1 year. Not only that, she basically said do not bother submitting ads for either site again.

My belief is that Molly took exception to the Theme of my sites (Asian ladies dating Western men) or she was just irritated that I questions her. So she took it upon herself to terminate my ads and the thousands of dollars I had been paying just to make a point.

So the lesson learned here is do not question the inconsistent approval process with Facebook or face retribution for your crimes.

P.S. I challenge her or anyone at Facebook to find one picture or word on the site listed above that constitutes a “sexual emphasis” on the site. It is dating, nothing more and nothing less.

This is such a great resource that you are providing and you give it away for free. I enjoy seeing websites that understand the value of providing a prime resource for free. I truly loved reading your post. Thanks!

Nice site, nice and easy on the eyes and great content too.

Great post – thanks. I’ll drop them a line and see how I get on.. the approval process seems so random – some ads are approved and then copied with a minor change like changing the age range from 23 to 22 and the identical ad copy gets disapproved!

That\’s really thninkig out of the box. Thanks!

Riley, just tried this and received the following automated response followed by a link to fb help:

“Thank you for contacting Facebook. You’ve reached an email address that no longer accepts inquiries and we will not be able to respond to your message”

Confirming Philip Robert… I had 6 ads disapproved today. Yet they are no different the ads I already have running. I’ve spend over $6K on ads in just a few months and can’t see to find a way to contact the ads affiliate team.

Yep, seems they decided to put the ‘closed’ sign on that e-mail. Now they just show you to the list of requirements and say ‘you figure it out, loser’.

I managed to get the approval: it seems they disapproved my ad because I capitalized both words in my company name (which I thought was within their rules).

So, against my wishes, I had to change the second word in the name to lowercase. It might not seem like a big deal, but imagine if British Petroleum had to advertise as British petroleum, for example.

Thanks for sharing the mail id Riley. It looks nice to see you have helped many. But unfortunately when I tried today to send a mail to that Id, i got below reply:

“You’ve reached an email address that no longer accepts inquiries and we will not be able to respond to your message. If you have questions about creating an ad, inquiries regarding ad policy, or any other specific questions related to Facebook Ads, please visit the Ads Help Center at: http://www.facebook.com/adshelp

Is there any other way to contact facebook team and say that my ads and sites are genuine and should be approved?

Hi,

I also got the same message as above.

Is there any other way to contact FB?

The disapproval messages are very generic and not give any clue what is wrong.

Further there is no proper “contact” email id for FB – and ironically they expect all of that on our landing page of the Ad!!!

Regards.

This no longer works. The response I got back when using affiliates@facebook.com:

Thank you for contacting Facebook. You’ve reached an email address that no longer accepts inquiries and we will not be able to respond to your message. This is a very annoying problem. I have just had an ad disapproved that pointed to my affiliatemarketingtricks.com site.

The ad contained a few lines of copy that basically said that I would help people discover the right way to make money at home with AF. The image was just a picture of me.

The response from them. The subject matter did not tie in with the site. I would love to know how.

AARGH! Same here. They’re losing money and I’m losing business. Why don’t they have humans in customer service for a PAID product like this?

OK guys. We’ve all had enough of Facebook and their disapproving ads for no real reason. It’s time to fight back. I am gathering names for a potential class action suit against Facebook for their preferential treatment and discriminatory actions. I have personally copied someone’s ad changing two words (lower case) and having it go to the EXACT SAME SITE as theirs (with MY affiliate name) and it was disapproved.

If you would like to be in on this, I need 10 people who are willing to give their names, address, phone and a copy of the disapproved ad. Send it to: admin@unitehawaii.com

KC I am in! I was just about to post a comment saying that one thing will make them realize they’re providing an unfair and bad service – lawsuit! :)

This is what caused ebay’s downfall. Apple realize this and give amazing customer service and outstanding service for ad providers.

I am so frustrated with Facebook that I could scream. Well, I have screamed!

Everything that everyone here is experiencing, I have too. They even went back and disapproved old ads I had on pause and then sent me hate mail saying if I don’t stop running disapproved ads they will kick me off Facebook. What the heck? They were approved ads, by Facebook!!!!

I’m on board with KC

The Facebook Dictatorship attitude is doing to be their downfall.

I am shocked as to how crappy and authoritative they run their ad dept. Facebook is public, shareholders are going to want profits on the bottom line. How can their bottom line grow when they treat the sole source of their income (ads) like were a bunch bottom of the pond scum feeders!!!

Hello jerks at FB, advertisers pay your dang salaries.
